Perfect spot for a quiet get away

We found the cottage extremely well equipped and very comfortable. The location is ideal for walkers, and we loved being able to walk from the doorstep. It is also in good location with regards to getting to other places. The views are wonderful, and we enjoyed watching the bats outside the windows at night! We would definitely stay again.

Great Christmas

We stayed here over Christmas 2017 and found the cottage to be lovely and warm with a good mix of modern kitchen (with everything supplied) and cosy lounge with wood burning stove and magnificent views. The 2 bedrooms were fine too. The place was very comfortable, everything worked, and I would stay here again. Its location is in a hamlet in Weardale, although there is a nearby pub within walking distance, it didn't appear to be open when we were there ( 23-27th Dec so maybe it has only limited opening hours. There's a Coop shop about 2 1/2 miles down the road in St Johns Chapel , that sells everything and here you'll find a great cafe the Chatterbox cafe. There are lots of walks around here, and the view from the kitchen window is absolutely beautiful; makes washing up a real pleasure! Although there was no wifi after a short while we realised we didn't need it. The cottage owners had provided some lovely Christmas touches; tree with lights, some decs, tea, coffee, milk biscuits etc and there were plenty of games, dvds to keep us amused. NB Only enough space for 1 car to park by the cottage, any more will need to park beyond the pub, just off the main road, its only about 3 minutes walk though. All in all, a great place to spend a quiet totally relaxing Christmas.
