Keartons is a bright and cheerful south facing Georgian maisonette set over 3 floors. It has been decorated beautifully with period features and furnishings in every room (including working shutters in the lounge and kitchen) which brings this property to life. The apartment is located on Alston Main Street, making it ideally located for the local amenities and exploring what the area has to offer.

The entrance to the property is on the ground floor with stairs leading to the first floor.

On the first floor is the kitchen and living room. The kitchen is well equipped with solid wood flooring and stunning views onto Alston Main Street. The living room has plenty of seating with a 2 and 3 seater sofas around a cosy log burning stove set on a large stone hearth. The living room looks onto Alston Main Street from the front and of the church and grounds from the rear.

To the second floor there is one double bedroom, a twin room and bathroom. The double bedroom has a beautiful metal framed bed with quirky accessories making this room feel very warm and cosy. The second bedroom sleeps two in twin beds and has views over Alston front street. The bathroom has a shower over the bath with the main feature being the eye catching gold framed mirror placed on duck egg tiles making the mirror really stand out. Halfway up the staircase to the third floor there is separate toilet with a unique tiled floor.

Local Information

Alston is the highest market town in England and boast good local amenities. It has many independent shops, eateries, cafes and pubs, including Saddlers Baker which makes fresh bread and baked goods from scratch, Alston House which serves delicious home cooked meals made using locally sourced produce and the Cane workshop which sells award winning Jams and Chutneys. From the outdoor clothing shop, where you can stock up on supplies to the fish and chip shop where you can grab a tasty treat, there is plenty to do in Alston. 

The area is close to the borders of Durham, Northumberland and is a gateway into the Lake District making this an ideal base to get out and explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Killhope Lead Mining Museum, the South Tyne Railway and Yad Moss Ski Slope are some amazing local attraction to name just a few. For those who enjoy the outdoors, walking and cycling, the Pennine Way and Coast to Coast Route runs right through Alston. The rolling countryside with unspoiled panoramic views of moorland is home to an abundance of wildlife and some amazing natural beauties including Ashgill waterfall.

Directions

Directions 

Travel the main A689 into Alston and take a left turning if travelling from Hexham direction and a right if travelling from Penrith/Carlisle direction, up the main street.

On the left hand side of the road just before the Market Cross (market square, located half way up the main street on the left) you will see a shop window with the name H Kearton & Son with cobbled parking in front. 

The entrance is to the right of the shop window (Navy blue door).
