Sleeps 7 - 3 bedrooms - 2 bathrooms  - large living space - large enclosed garden - pet friendly

Measling Cottage is a detached cottage with outbuildings that has been recently renovated to a high standard while remaining full of character. It is ideally located for those looking to take in the history of Hadrian’s Wall or explore the Pennine Way. The Pennine Way runs right alongside the property. Set just off the A69 for easy access via road, the property remains private and hidden by the trees that line the bottom of the garden, but is close to the local amenities in Greenhead and Halthwistle.

You will enter the property through the rear conservatory where you can store muddy boots and coats. The door to the cottage features the original knocker from when the cottage was first built. On the ground floor, there is a well equipped kitchen, separate dining room, living room and the main bathroom. The living room is given character by the beautiful exposed stone wall, the large window overlooks the garden to the front making it light and airy and there is log burning stove for times when you want to cosy up in front of the TV. The dining room has a large table and chairs, a log burning stove and a snuggle chair providing a cosy area to read. The stairs to the 1st floor are in the dining room, where there is also a door to the conservatory at the front of the property with seating overlooking the garden. The main bathroom has a separate bath and shower.

Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms which sleep 7, 2 double rooms and one twin/double (can be either depending on requirements, if used as a double it will be topped with a mattress topper). Bed 7 is a single bed with metal frame added to the master double when the cottage is booked for 7 people. The master double is a large room full of character with its high ceiling, exposed beams and the original fireplace. This room has a wardrobe and an ensuite shower room with toilet. The bedrooms to the front of the property have views over the fell, where you might be lucky enough to spot birds of prey, foxes or deer.

There is a utility room housed in one of the outbuilding, where there are laundry facilities including a washing machine and dryer. Here you will also find two 2 adult bikes and 2 children’s bikes available to use at no extra cost (you must provide your own safety equipment including helmet) and a fold away treadmill.

The beautiful enclosed garden surround 3 sides of the property, so there is ample outdoor space for children to play or for the adults to relax on the picnic benches with a drink or two. To the rear there is a pond with security fencing and the neighbours have ducks which they allow children to feed. The gravelled area provides parking inside the gates of the property for two cars and additional parking is available opposite the property.

“A gem in the heart of the Roman Wall countryside‘ I had recently the pleasure of staying in this newly appointed beautiful cottage in the heart of the Northumberland countryside and am delighted to provide the first review. Ideally located for use of the facilities in the local market town Haltwhistle, and within walking distance of the village of Greenhead where we discovered the most delicious Tearoom. The cottage itself is sensitively restorwell equipped. The rooms are generous and beautifully decorated. The hosts Keith and Jeanette could not have more helpful, informative and accommodating. The welcome pack was a very thoughtful touch and gratefully received. We had the best time, and will definitely return.
