The living room has a log burning stove, the kitchen is well equipped and there is a small conservatory overlooking the fully enclosed garden. Relax in this cosy and traditional cottage or get out and enjoy the area. The surrounding area and views are stunning and you can begin many walks right from the doorstep.

Sundawn is located in Newhouses, Weardale. Although in Country Durham the location is close to the borders of Cumbria and Northumberland making this an ideal base to get out and explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Local amenities including 2 pubs, one of which serves food, a post office with tea room, a café and Co-op, are located in the village of St Johns Chapel less than a 5 minute drive away.
For those who want to embrace the outdoors, you can begin many walks or cycle routes from the doorstep and the Weardale Activity Centre is a 2 minute car journey or a 5 minute walk from the cottage. The North of England Lead Mining Museum at Killhope is a five minute drive from the cottage, and is worth a visit giving you an insight into the lead mining era with underground tours.

Directions
From Alston drive up the main street turning left onto the A689, Nenthead road. Continue through Nenthead and down into Weardale, drive to Ireshopeburn and after the Weardale Outdoor Centre take a left to Newhouse, drive up the hill and you will see a garage and open space on your right, the cottage is down the stone flag path to the left. The allocated parking space for the Sundawn is the cobble section.
From the A1 proceed along the A68 towards the North Pennines until you reach the A689 signposted “Weardale North Pennines” join this road and travel west through various villages for approx 18 miles until you pass through the village of St John’s Chapel. Pass the Weardale Museum; take a right turn over the bridge and up the hill and you will see a garage and open space on your right, the cottage is down the stone flag path to the left. The allocated parking space for the Sundawn is the cobble section.
