Granville House is a quirky 17th century cottage which has been beautifully restored but has keep some traditional period features, including its very own knight in shining armour. Set over 4 floors and featuring stone walls and wooden beans, Granville House is a spacious cottage for larger groups and its location in the centre of Alston is perfect for accessing the local amenities and exploring the great outdoors. 


On the level where you enter the property, there is a large, well-equipped kitchen with an ARGA and a door to the garden to the right and an open plan living/dining area to the left. The knight overlooks a long eight-seater dining table and chairs, and balcony doors open onto a small veranda with stunning views across the South Tyne valley. The living room area has seating around a stone fireplace and a log-burning stove. 


On the top 2 levels of the property are three double bedrooms, a twin bedroom and a family bathroom with bath and shower. The double bedroom on the top floor houses the sauna, toilet and shower room. 

On the ground floor, the cellar has been converted into a games room with a pool table, dart board and a bar. There is a toilet and access to the garden. The large garden has a gravelled and patio section with furniture where you can take in the stunning views over the South Tyne Valley and also features a wood-fired pizza oven and a Lay-Z-Spa hot tub.

Local Information

Alston is the highest market town in England and boast good local amenities. It has many independent shops, eateries, cafes and pubs, including Saddlers Baker which makes fresh bread and baked goods from scratch, Alston House which serves delicious home cooked meals made using locally sourced produce and the Cane workshop which sells award winning Jams and Chutneys. From the outdoor clothing shop, where you can stock up on supplies to the fish and chip shop where you can grab a tasty treat, there is plenty to do in Alston. 

The area is close to the borders of Durham, Northumberland and is a gateway into the Lake District making this an ideal base to get out and explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Killhope Lead Mining Museum, the South Tyne Railway and Yad Moss Ski Slope are some amazing local attraction to name just a few. For those who enjoy the outdoors, walking and cycling, the Pennine Way and Coast to Coast Route runs right through Alston. The rolling countryside with unspoiled panoramic views of moorland is home to an abundance of wildlife and some amazing natural beauties including Ashgill waterfall.

· You will see our Pennine Country Cottages sign at the entrance to the property, and the sign Granville House also on the left side of the front door.
