This comfortable and well equipped former farmhouse in a peaceful location in the stunning North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is perfect for a family get together or time away with friends, sleeping up to 11. On the border of Northumberland and Cumbria with views across the Alston Moor, the South Tyne River and Railway, Whitlow is the perfect spot for touring and exploring the area with many public footpaths and cycle routes right on the doorstep, the Epiacum Roman Fort is within a 5 minute walk. There are three bathrooms and five bedrooms. Three are doubles, and two of these have an additional single bed. There’s also a twin bedroom and one single room.
Alston, the highest market town in England, has good amenities including butchers, bakers, general stores and tourist information, a full list of which can be found in the cottage once you arrive. The local pubs serve an excellent variety of home-cooked food. There is a fish and chip shop, chemist, hardware store and an outdoor shop providing discounted clothing.
For days out, the cottage is ideal for local walks or cycling along the river and hillsides with unspoilt panoramic views of moorland and an abundance of wildlife.
Up to two dogs are welcome to stay at the cottage by prior arrangement. A travel cot is also available on request.
