You’ll find Ghyll Burn Cottage up a tree-lined private track in a secluded valley where the small Ghyll Burn flows. You’ll enjoy peace and tranquility surrounded by an abundance of wildlife such as red squirrel, roe deer and many species of birds. The owners have a specialist hardy plant nursery on site, which you are free to explore, and way-marked footpaths criss-cross the area leading to the South Tyne and the Pennine Way. Ghyll Burn is a welcoming and cosy stone cottage dating back to 1680. The owners have fully renovated it so it has all the great amenities you’ll need, while keeping its original features and charm.
The cottage sleeps six, in one double bed, two singles and a double sofa bed. The bedrooms and bathroom are located downstairs, while the open plan dining room/ kitchen and the living room are upstairs. The living room has beautiful wooden beams, comfy sofas and a log-burning stove. All rooms have views over looking the garden. The cottage has private parking
A travel cot and and a cot and highchair are available.

Ghyll Burn Cottage is a short drive from Alston, the highest market town in Cumbria, which has good amenities including butchers, bakers, general stores and tourist information, a full list of which can be found in the cottage once you arrive. The local pubs in Alston serve a variety of excellent home-cooked food. There is a fish and chip shop, chemist, hardware store and an outdoor shop providing discounted clothing.
The cottage is ideal for local walks or cycling along the river and hillsides with unspoilt panoramic views of moorland and an abundance of wildlife

Leave Alston and head over the bridge towards the Alston to Hartside road
Take a left turn signposted to Garrigill and follow this road for 0.7miles
You will see a sign on the right for Low Gill House, Barn End & Ghyll Burn Cottage and our Pennine Country Cottage board
Drive up the tree lined track over the small ford and take a sharp left
Drive around the building and Ghyll Cottage is at the far end, parking by the white stone steps leading up to the front door. You will be met on arrival by the owners Sue and Neil.
