A stunning conversion from an old barn into a luxurious holiday cottage. Situated in a peaceful location where you can enjoy the wildlife and riverside walks along the Weardale Way from the doorstep.
The Old Barn is perect for family get togethers or small intimate gatherings, with a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area. The log burning stove in the living area gives it a rustic feel and the views across the to the stables, river and stunning unspoilt countryside beyond are spectacular. The kitchen is well equiped and there is a large dining table.
The cottage has 4 bedrooms - 3 large rooms with double beds and a 4th with a large single and a bunk bed. There are 2 modern bathrooms on the first floor.
The cosy "snug" sitting room is situated on the ground floor. One of the sofas is a double sofa bed, and with the addition of an adjoining shower room, makes it perfect for addition accommodation. Extra guests are welcome at an additional charge, please ring to book this.
Dogs are welcome with prior notification (additional charge of £10 per dog)
A refundable security deposit of £100 is due on your day of arrival to the owner via cheque or cash.

Local Information
Eastgate is a pretty rural village in upper Weardale which is served by a local pub. The Cross Keys serves real ales and bar meals.
The Old Barn is a 5 minte drive from the market town of Stanhope. Here you can source your daily amenities from independant shops selling local produce and stock up for your stay. There are plentry of shops to browse and eateries, including pubs, cafes and takeaway, should you wish to have a break from cooking.
The local visitors information centre can provide information on what to do in the local area. In this area of outstanding natural beauty, there are plenty of outdoor activities you can get involved in including walking and cycling and Stanhope has the Weardale Railway allowing you the opportunity to take in the magnificent unspoilt views down the valley. Weardale Advernture Centre is a 15 minute drive by car, where expert instructors can provide organised activities from rock climbing to caving - perfect for groups looking to have a fun break away. The North of England Lead Mining Museum at Killhope is a twenty minute drive from the cottage well worth a visit giving you an insight into the lead mining era with guided underground tours. There is also the village of St Johns Chapel, a 10 minute drive up the dale, where there is a co-op, post office, a café and 2 pubs one of which serves food.
Durham is the nearest city and has many attractions including a castle, cathedral and a whole host of activities to be enjoyed by all of the family, only a 30 minute drive from the cottage, click on the link for a full list of attractions.
Newcastle can also be reached in approximately 30 minutes, visit the word famous Sage, walk along the historic quayside and over the Blinking eye bridge to the Baltic centre for contemporary art or visit the many shops, eateries and bars.

Directions
Travel the main A689 into Weardale
Through Stanhope up to Eastgate
Take a right at the bus stop before the Cross Keys pub and drive up the lane past the houses, keep going up the lane, you will see a sign for the farm on your right, as you drive up the lane you will pass a house on your right, continue until you reach the farm and park in the yard in front of the barn. You should see a Pennine Country Cottage sign displayed.
